The Battle of Culloden

The battle that took place at Culloden on April 16, 1746, was the final clash between the Jacobites and the Hanoverians. This was the last battle fought on mainland Britain. The argument that led up to the fight was between Bonnie Prince Charlie (the Jacobites) who believed that his father had a claim to the throne, and the Duke of Cumberland (the Hanoverians) whose father was King George II.
